I was born in Xinjiang, the very northwest part of China. (Lots of petroleum there.) The Tianshan (Sky mountain) mountain is the very place where I lived when I was a kid. From the name you can imagine how high the mountain is, I have no idea about the specific number in meters or feet, but I am sure the highest location is more than 6500 meters above the sea level. Although many Chinese people think Xinjiang is not a good place to live, not much water, too cold, too windy, I like it, I love it. Lots of reasons, I just don't know how to say.
Like most of the Chinese people living in foreign countries, I have got some academic degrees too. In 1983, I went to Peking Univerty studing mathematics. Not every people like math, I don't like it very much either, but I had no other choice at that time. Further, in 1987, I went to Tsinghua University study mathematics for a Master's degree. I got it in 1989. From then on, I had been not a student for 6 years.
I have been in Beijing for more than 12 years. That is a really nice city.
I worked at Computing Center (no this orgnization now) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Fortunately, I have been working there on some industrial technology related to oil exploration. It is much more interesting than math itself, but there are really lots of work need math background. At that time, one thing I have to mention is : I wanted to go abroad like every body else. And, I went out of China finally. That was the first day of January of the year 1996.
Now, I am a graduate student at the University of Calgary, majoring in exploration geophysics (not mathematics finally). I like it. Wecome to my lab.
I have a family, I have a son. Welcome to my house (I don't have a real one now.)
